The role of the Lector is to proclaim the Word of God in the Sacred Scriptures during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. Lectors proclaim the Word of God, mediating an encounter with God by making the text come alive for the listeners. Anybody who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation is eligible to become a Lector. The role of a Lector is to proclaim the scripture readings and the prayer of the faithful at the Sunday liturgies and other special Masses throughout the year. After attending training and practice sessions they will be included in the schedule to read at Sunday liturgies.
Anyyone wishing to become a Lector or anyonewho wishes to continue as a Lector must complete the Protecting God’s Children program. If they haven’t completed it before or need it renewed, they must begin by also filling out the form attached below.
